Repositories are central locations where you can store and administrate reports. A repository is a folder on the server or in a database.
Important: Please note, that the repository does not offer any version control or backup mechanism. To avoid accidental loss of data such as your report templates we encourage you to use third-party programs.
The repository list can contain multiple inactive repositories but only one active repository. When adding a new repository, it is checked for validity, e.g. whether the path is correct or a connection to the database is possible. The result of the validation is shown as status. Existing repositories can be deleted one by one. Note that this only removes the entry from the configuration, the underlying structure, data, and storage of the repository stays the same and could be added later again as a new repository.
The report repository currently supports two types as report store: hard disk and database. You can add multiple repositories to your configuration, but only one can be active at a time. To add a new repository to the repository list, click on "Add repository..." and select either "from file system" or "from a database" from the drop down menu.
To add a hard disk repository simply select "from file system" in the drop down list "Add repository" and enter the desired path in the text box. You can also browse the file system to choose the path.
Instead of a hard disk based repository you can also use a database - depending on your desired environment. To add a new database repository select "from a database" in the drop down list "Add repository". The following dialog will appear:
You have to specify a JDBC URL including your database, the username and password for the database and the name of the driver class. To ease the settings there is a template selector for drivers that can be installed together with i-net Clear Reports during setup.
The system will create the required structure in your database once the connection can be opened successfully.
All repository locations will be validated automatically if the dialog is opened. A new repository location will be validated after it has been added to the list.
A user directory is a location in the report repository where each user can save it's own reports. Ad hoc reporting also uses these user directories to store the ad hoc reports of the user instead of central storage location.
The node "My Reports" is available in the repository browser, in the dialog "Open Report File" dialog of the i-net Designer and user directories are available using WebDAV.
A user who has the permission for the configuration manager (see dialog: Permissions), can see the additional node "All Users" that contains the user directories of all users.
The user directory is just a link to the directory: "<repository directory>/users/<domain>/<username>". If a user logs on for the first time, then a directory is created for him in "<repository directory>/users". If the user name contains a domain name, then a subdirectory for the domain will be created, if it does not exists already.
You can enable and configure the user directories in the dialog "Repository" of the configuration manager. In the "Users and Groups" - Manager it is possible to configure the user's rigths if "Restrict Permissions" is activated in the "Users and Groups" dialog of the Configuration Manager.
To see the user directory "My Reports" in the repository browser, the user must have the right to use the repository browser (see "Users and Groups" - Manager).
Specifies that user directories can be used. A user directory is only accessible for this particular user. For this one user the read, write and execute rpt files permissions can be defined by the administrator in the repository browser. The User Directories are located in a special hidden folder 'All Users'. Administrators with the system permission 'Configuration' can see this folder and can grant permissions for this folder or the user directories to other users if he can write to those folders. Setting user permissions directly is usually not required when using standard permissions of user directories.
If user directories are disabled the directories are no longer restricted to their specific users. Then the Access Permissions apply.
The user directory can be found in the node "My Reports" of the repository browser and in the "Open Report File" dialog of the i-net Designer.
Specifies if the user directory is enabled for the guest account. To configure the permissions for the guest account in Standard permission of user directories you need to use the user name that is specified in the dialog: Login.
Note: This function is only used if the guest account was activated.
Each user having a configured user directory can use it to store his reports in the repository. To see the user directory "My Reports" in the repository browser, the user or group needs the permission for the Repository Browser in the dialog "Permissions".
To add a new user directory for a user or role and define its permissions, click on "Add permission..." and select "for a user" or "for a group" in the dropdown list. Then select or enter the group or user name and set the permissions for this user or group. To edit or delete a user or group just click on the edit or delete button in its entry.
Any user who is not defined has no permissions to its user directory. If the asterisk symbol (*) is used as name for user or group, then the permissions configured for this user or group are valid for all users or groups. Also the permissions are additive, which means that a right is granted to the current user or group if it is granted to the current user or group itself, or to user "*" (all users), or to a special group, where current user belongs to.
The default value is that each user (*) can load and save the files in its user directory.
