In the Calendar Settings, you manage your calendars, sharing, connections to external sources, and subscription URLs for other calendar programs.
You open the Calendar Settings from the button at the bottom of the sidebar.
The dialog shows your calendars in the My calendars and Shared calendars groups. Through the context menu on each calendar and through New, you manage calendars, shares, and external connections.
The Calendar application groups calendars by their relation to you:
Every user has a personal calendar. It is created automatically and is intended for private appointments.
In the settings dialog, you can create a new calendar, edit calendar properties, delete calendars, and change whether notifications are enabled by default for you.
Only calendars for which you have Administrator permission can be changed in the settings. Read-only calendars can be shown in the calendar view but can not be modified.
You can share calendars with users and groups. The following permission levels are available:
Note: A shared calendar must keep at least one administrator. If a change would remove your own access to a calendar, the Calendar application asks for confirmation.
You can connect calendars from external sources. The available providers depend on the installed and configured plugins. The following calendar sources can be available:
To add an external calendar:
The external calendar appears in the calendar list after the connection is saved. Its appointments are loaded during the next synchronization.
In the edit dialog, you enter the connection details and set the name, color, and synchronization interval. For read-only ICS calendars, the Calendar application shows a notice that appointments can only be read, not changed. Through Shares, you can share the calendar with users and groups.
Note: For Google and Outlook, the corresponding OAuth connection must be configured in the Configuration application before the calendar can be added.
Note: For Google, enable the Google Calendar API in the Google Cloud project of the OAuth app. The connection to Google help describes this step. For Outlook, add the Microsoft Graph calendar permissions on the Entra ID app. The connection to Office 365 help describes this step.
External calendars show their synchronization status in the settings. The status indicates whether synchronization is running, when the calendar was last synchronized, or why synchronization failed.
The Synchronize now action starts synchronization for the selected external calendar. The Reset and reload events action clears the local synchronization state and reloads the appointments from the external source.
Through the context menu on a calendar, you start synchronization, copy subscription URLs, or edit and delete calendars.
Depending on the calendar and your permissions, you can copy a subscription URL from the context menu and add your calendar to another calendar program, for example Outlook, Google Calendar, or Apple Calendar.
The following URL types are available:
The available URL actions depend on the selected calendar and your permission. You need at least Read permission to copy a URL.
