Chart

Creating a chart consist of two steps - Select a Chart type then Fill the Chart with Data.

Select a Chart type

The Chart type selection is on the outer right side of the dialog. It offers the four most important chart types: bar, line, area and pie charts. By hovering each of them you will see the sub-types of the category. Click one of them to select it.

By selecting the preview the images change accordingly to give you a notion where the data fields will be added (hover over the category or data section to see the highlight).

Fill the Chart with Data

Depending on the result you want to achieve with the chart, you have to select which type of records you want to be displayed - e.g. grouped by one or two entries. You can now add a data field to the "Category" box by dragging and dropping the field into the box. (If you selected "On Change Of Two Groups", you will have to add another data field to the "Series" box).

To have actual data, grouped over the categories and/or series, you then have to add at least one data field to the "Data Fields" box, though you can have more if you want more than one set of data in the chart.

Summary Options

Each entry in the "Data Fields" box offers a summary options dialog. Click the Sum button to open the dialog. You can now change:

  • the name of the sum (uncheck the "Automatic Name" to edit)
  • the summary operation - how would you like your data to be summarized
  • an additional input or select field for certain summary operations
